since i am ensconced ever so ungently within the grip of femmanazi-dom (as the inhabitants of choo-choo train so graciously annoint themselves) i've taken to mulling over the thought of feminisms in art. katie really likes miranda july. i really do too. lenny likes mogdigliani and sex and the city. she does not like helen mirra or eva hesse, not knowing who eva hesse was despite her art history minor and her desire to work in the quote unquote art world instead of the publishing industry. if you know me you know what i think and i need not say more. but my mind drifts to issues of photography and the feminine, and also to the minimalists and the feminine. i've become entranced with some particular works on paper by the photographers uta barth and michal rovner, both women photographers who started their professional artistic careers late in life despite having been trained in art practice.
